The Mandala is a symbolic Buddhist offering. It represents all the wonderful things in life that are freely offered in exchange for freedom from attachment, also called enlightenment. After spending many, many hours painstakingly creating these stunningly beautiful works of art, the sand is swept away, symbolically reinforcing the transience and inherent emptiness of all things.
